Disasters, as the word suggests, is a phenomenon that actually tends to spell a doom on the regular routine of an entire society and depending upon its size and effects it can even cause a change in the working process of an entire country. Basically, when something big happens that we cannot stop or cannot change is known as a disaster. Every year, millions of people are affected by the natural disasters and man-made disasters (Georgian Med News, 2011). In this paper, we will discuss about a natural disaster that took place in the United States and the studies in Disasters preparedness.

The different states situated in the southern and central region of the United States under- went various high-temperature range that brought on the destruction of living beings and agriculture at the same time. The city of Kansas faced a heat wave for 17 days where the temperature was recorded to be below 90 only twice. The rest of the time it remained at 38`C. Memphis experienced an even higher temperature of 42`C for fifteen consecutive days. Dallas remained at a temperature of 38`C for 42 days in a row. Dallas even faced a 45`C heat wave for three days in between and it only got low when the hurricane Allen hit the state in the early august. In total, the United States faced a heat wave natural calamity for 71 consecutive days experiencing a huge loss of life and economy ever.

Mitigation
Mitigation can be defined as arrangements that are conducted before a disaster occurs in order to reduce the adverse effects and damages (Cliff, 2007). It is the process of identifying the potential hazards that affect country or region and on that basis, the various strategies and decisions are taken and implemented. It reduces damage effects for emergencies. Taking an insurance for home or factory is an example of mitigation.
