The researchers state that ADHD “include four major deficits: (a) poor investment and maintenance of effort, (b) deficient modulation of arousal to meet situational demands, (c) a strong inclination to seek immediate reinforcement, along with (d) the originally proposed difficulties with impulse control (Douglas, 1980, 1983). Douglas (1988) later concluded that these four defiencies arise from a more central impairment in self-regulation in ADHD.” I agree with this. I feel that with ADHD it effects several areas of a child, or an adolescent, and cause them to have “impairments” in the school setting, at home, and other important area’s of the child’s life. I feel that the child and the family will both struggle with this as the child grows up, especially if a. the child is reliant on medications, and b. if the child’s parents do not allow the child to fully develop prior to a
