Therefore whining educating children about Asia it should not be limited to language. Kids need to be exposed to the culture and there needs to be a way to expose them to just how different life is over there. However I think the biggest challenge is motivating kids from a young age. I find it quite interesting that whilst travelling in Asia, the amount of people that can speak some form of broken English quite remarkable. Compare this to Australia, where other than English majority of Australians would struggle to communicate in any language. However motivating kids is the difficult part. Australian doesn’t have a strong culture based on educating, as in it is not valued as highly compared to many Asian countries. Learning a language is quite difficult a therefore so many factors come into educating kids. This is then met by native speakers whom excel at learning it, which then discourages kids in taking the course later in schooling. That and the fact that it is not valued in the higher education. I found it quite interesting that in this course we have been shown why learning and understanding Asian culture is so important. Yet in primary and high school levels I was never exposed to the importance of it. I think that is where the issue lies. Educating kids in Asian culture is important, but they do not need to learn the language or the culture. They need to be exposed to the importance and benefits of knowing about our Asian neighbours. I think kids are made aware of our neighbours intrigue would motivate them to gain knowledge on their
