Databases and servers are what companies use to process vast amounts of information rapidly, over the internet, the greater the bandwidth you have, the greater amounts of information you can process. These servers are used to generate a service not to store it, so when you try to log in into your online Bank of America account but can’t. That doesn’t mean ran out of that service, it means their servers can’t generate the service fast enough. When a car manufacturer cuts 30,000 jobs (Bradford), you would assume that the employees are replaced by robots, but in Bank of America’s case, they can’t let someone applying for a mortgage talk with a robot. It is true that services are perishable, but the people providing the service still exist, meaning that someone working at the bank is costing money even when he’s not providing a service.
