Treatments for breast cancer are based on the benefits, stage, and type of the cancer. There are two types of treatments, local and systemic. Local treatments are either surgery or radiation therapy. These are only used if the tumor can be accessed without having to disrupt the rest of the body. Whenever treatment needs to reach anywhere in the body systemic treatments are done.
