They claim to want to educate regular Canadians but fail to do so by writing at a high literate level. Their idea to inform ordinary citizens is admirable. There is a need for all Canadian citizens to understand medicare because everyone utilizes its services and therefore should understand it. This is great because after reading the text about how medicare should be funded and improved with current budgets it can leave the reader understanding that information but feeling lost as to how to expand on it. Although the reader does not necessarily have to do what the author says, it can allow them to further analyze what the concept means and how they would answer the question. The book’s purpose is to educate citizens on medicare and by authorizing them to further examine the knowledge they are presented with allows readers to become more informed.
The idea that the authors have to educate the general public is exceptional. The authors only want to inform others on how medicare can be sustained and what people can do to ensure it is. Issues like medicare and politics can be horrifying for someone to attempt to interpret but Duckett and Peetoom make it simpler and help people understand the aspects of medicare as well as how to make arguments about it.
