The focus of Casey’s models is to create a partnership the parents which helps to foster the child-parent relationship and their ability to deliver necessary care. Casey’s model implies that the family should be willing and capable of assisting in the care of their child. Furthermore, Casey’s models states that the parents should be able to enter into a partnership with the healthcare provider. The focus of Casey’s model incorporates five concepts of child, family, health, environment, and pediatric nurse (Coyne & Cowley, 2007). Casey recognized the importance of family centered care as it relates to providing care. The model looks at family structure and how it affects the care rendered and the family’s ability to care for the child (Coyne & Cowley, 2007). I have spent my entire nursing career working with the adult and geriatric population. I know very little about working with children, the majority of my pediatric experience is working with adolescents. My strengths in this clinical would be my willingness to learn about this patient population. I am good a critical thinking and utilizing my resources when needed. I feel that my weakness are much greater than my strengths simply because I have no experience with this population. While I am familiar with a comprehensive assessment, I am not familiar with the techniques to use when assessing an uncooperative patient. Furthermore, my knowledge about complex childhood illness and diseases are limited. I am really nervous about dosing pediatric patients, this is an area I need to work
