I walked in Mrs. Turner’s Kindergarten class today is my last day observing this classroom. Mrs. Turner was going over the words sentences that the students formed the last time I observed which was on Monday about what they liked to do with their families. The students are sitting on the carpet; she had to tell the students to behave on the carpet. One thing that stuck out to me in chapter four was the section on “I-Messages”. Especially in Elementary classrooms, I think that it is easy for a teacher to point fingers at students when they are misbehaving. It is easy for a teacher to call out that student and tell them that they are doing something wrong. But when a teacher uses an “I-Message”, they are showing the student how their actions are effecting others without criticizing the student. On November 28, 2017, I spent my fourth day with class 3-213 at P.S. 45. During this time, I felt I was able to confidently encounter, converse, and assist the children with varying subject matters. At this point, the children even felt comfortable enough to ask me for help.
