To contrast and expand the acknowledge of the protection that copyright law offers, this paper will investigate the cases of Adele accused of copying Kurdish artist’s ballad, Happy Birthday song copyright and Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams’ Blurred line case. Nowadays, music can transfer and download quickly from the internet. Artists are willing to share their creative works on the different platforms, like iTunes and YouTube so that everyone can listen to all different kinds of music across the world. If anyone tries to pirate their properties will be punished according to the law. Based on three cases of Blurred Lines, Happy Birthday song and Adele’s Million Year Ago, the public can discover more of the protection that copyright law offers, and knowing the results from the court also help to distinguish whether a song is public domain or not. However, creative works based upon the earlier ones will be described as plagiarism, but it still part of the initiating of creation. Although the digital world allows us to store and download music easily from the internet, people should pay more respects to the original owner of the work because the creative works belong to their personal properties, just like a car you drive and a laptop you used
