Crossfit was formally established in 2000 it was founded by Greg Glassman a teenage gymnast. Per (Burt, 2013) “The Godfather Greg Glassman”, Glassman grew up in Woodland Hills, a suburb of Los Angeles in San Fernando Valley. At the Glassman household, education trumped everything. Glassman father was a rocket scientist at Hughes Aircrafts and an all-around hard ass who lorded math and the scientific method over Glassman. Glassman escaped into athletic and fell in love with gymnastics (Helm 4). Glassman wanted to be stronger so he discovered the use of dumbbells and a barbell. This would help him get stronger than any other gymnast who was working with only bodyweight.
