She pointed out that our practice ran later than the dining halls were open. I then decided to look into other universities that had more versatile ding hours. This lead me to the Univeristy of Georgia Food Services’ website. This article discusses the change to a twenty-four hour dining hall on campus and the positive effects that it has had on students. However an article written in The Harvard Crimson, Harvard’s campus newspaper, argues that twenty-four hour dining would require large changes in the dining program due the addition costs it would imply. These different stances led me to an article by the The American Heart Association titled Food as Fuel - Before, During and After Workouts. Here, nutrition consultant Platt stresses the importance of proper nutrition and exercise.
Research Plan: To further develop my argument, I will continue to research the effects of proper nutrition on performance. I plan to utilize books at our university’s library along with online sources. At the library I will look for books that discuss the relationship between food and doing well in class and in the gym. I plan to have most of my sources gathered by the end of the second week of October. This will help me be better prepared for the Annotated Bibliography which I must have done by October 17th. Next I will outline my argumentative essay so that I will have a better idea of what I will write. The outline will be done two weeks before I have to submit my final draft of the paper to ensure that I have enough time to edit and revise my paragraphs. The final draft will be handed in on November 14th. I then must create a powerpoint which describes my research to an audience different than that of my paper.
