It was nice seeing you all this past Wednesday and Thursday night.
We began class by exporting your interviews with the superintendent and SSP narratives from NVivo to Word documents, and uploading the Word documents in Blackboard. If you have not finished coding your interview or narratives, that’s fine; please try to finish them up and load them in Blackboard before the end of the month.
After loading the NVivo reports in Blackboard, we reviewed inferential statistics. I modelled how to use SPSS to conduct independent samples t tests, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and correlation. In Blackboard, you will find YouTube tutorials and chapters describing each of these statistics. You should possess a general understanding of what descriptive and inferential statistics are, and how they are used. Next fall, you will …show more content…
Complete assignment two by writing the section of your chapter three in which you:
a. Identify the research tradition/methodology (e.g. grounded theory, ethnography, case study, narrative research, or action research).
b. Identify the “case” or participants in the study (e.g. the population you are sampling from).
c. Identify the qualitative and quantitative research methods (e.g. survey, interview, document analysis, focus groups, etc.) and explain how the research methods will help you address your research questions.
3. Complete assignment three by identifying your data analysis methods. For quantitative analysis (e.g. survey data), you will explain how you will organize the data in SPSS, and identify which analysis methods (descriptive and/or inferential statistics) you will use to analyze the data. For qualitative analysis, you need to explain how you will organize the data in NVivo, and use NVivo (inductively or deductively) to code the data. You need to explain how the codes will help address your research questions. You also need to explain how the analysis methods will help you address your research
