They might be thinking having an early day can have the sports players practice in the daylight. Well, that sports player will be too tired to practice. Also, they would get hurt way more often by being tired during the practice. You might also be thinking the whole district will have to move their times back because the buses will take the high school later and then the middle school later and the elementary school later. I say that is even better for everybody to get more sleep than they need and have way more energy for the day.…
Twelve schools in the county are thinking about changing to a year-round school schedule, I agree with them wanting the change it because it is a lot more beneficial to the students. The year round school schedule benefits students by (1)having more breaks, (2)less missed school, (3)and not forgetting crucial information during the long summer break. A benefit to the year round school schedule is that the students get more breaks. Since the students get more breaks, they have more opportunities for vacation. More vacations allow students to have more fun, and since they will be having more fun they will be happier students.…
Kids in middle school and in high school think that they are exhausted because they wake up to go to school, but the one reason why they are exhausted in the mornings is because they don't get enough sleep. In the passage "Keep Start Times as They Are," by unknown author, I agree that the times should stay the same because if the times change then the kids will go to sleep later because school will start later. First of all, kids who go to sleep a liitle late will be tired in the morning because they have to go to school. The unknown author states,"They will have to go to sleep earlier if they are forced to wake up earlier," (1).…
Dear Edmonson County school board members, Have you ever wanted to stay in bed just a little bit longer? That’s how most teenagers in America feels right before school. A new controversy has emerged: should school start at 9:00 a.m. or stay the same? In my opinion school should start later, because it decreases disorders, decreases absences, and decreases motor vehicle accidents. If school started later it would decrease disorders.…
Wouldn't it be nice to get the required 9 hours of sleep every night? With these school start times, however, that's impossible. Every day millions of kids drag themselves out of bed and into a classroom full of other sleep deprived kids. That's why schools should start school later. One reason being that it will benefit attitude and lower the chances of depression.…
Waking up really early for another day of school isn’t probably fun for anyone, especially for the kids who have to be at school before 8:00 or 8:30 am and for the parents who have to drag their kids out of bed. What if students get really tired at school and not be able to do their work? Aren’t you worried about their health problems too? Maybe, school should start later so kids can get enough sleep and not having to wake up so early to go school when they’re still tired. Well, we’re about to find out.…
With this change for the better, students can obtain a more joyous and healthier life, be successful in school, and live a more danger free life. If schools would push back their start times, students would…
Should school start school later, yes because young adults need more sleep. Waking up early causes lack of sleep and can mess up a person’s health said by Later School Mornings. It shows that adolescents who don’t get enough sleep are more likely to be overweight, not engage in daily physical activity, and possibly perform poorly in school. Out of my class only 3/15 people agree that school should start later than normal. They think that it should start and end earlier.…
A national sleep foundation poll found that 59% of 6th through 8th graders, as well as 87% of high schoolers, are getting less than the recommended amount of sleep on school nights. This often affects how attentive kids are when they get to school and can have a negative impact on the rest of their day. When students are tired they often don't take in the information they would otherwise pick up with an adequate amount of sleep. Starting classes at middle school and high schools no earlier than 8:30 a.m. would help teens arrive alert, healthy and ready to learn, U.S. sleep medicine specialists say (Lehman, 2017). Schools should start later to ensure the success of its students.…
Schools should push back start times Do you think that students should have to wake up before the sun even comes up and have to come to school? Starting school later in the day would help with many different factors. Schools expect a lot out of students and having to wake up at the crack of dawn, get to school on time, and get good grades while being tired can be very challenging for many. School should start later in the morning because students will get better grades, it decreases the amount of absences and tardies, and it will be healthier lifestyle for the kids to start later in the day.…
The Mill Valley High School Board members should reject the proposed idea of a later school day because it is beneficial to students with after school activities such as sports and jobs. The idea that a later school day is beneficial towards students is preposterous because students with after school activities and jobs would need to be out of school at an earlier hour. Take John Sherwood’s testimony for example. He complains, “But it’s going to make football practice a nightmare. We won’t be able to be dressed and on the field until 4:45, and in October, it starts getting dark by 5:30...…
They should not be forced to go all year round to school. The school year should not be longer because it gives the students more tension. Firstly, school stress students out regularly and they need a long break. If the school just makes the school year longer, it will stress the kids out even more. According to statistics, teens have the most tension from school.…
School starts too early, and it’s causing disruption. For example, almost everyday in the first semester during the 2017-18 school year, i wake up from my three or four alarms at 6:45 am. Stumbling around tired, I partake in my morning routine, which consists of a shower, brushing my teeth and hair, and eating. Not much right? Well after doing what seems so simple, i always find myself chasing after the bus.…
Why the school year should be shorter! By; Tenlee Tustin-Myers School is to help you with life and get a job, 180 days is a lot of learning time. Students are all already tired of school at 100 days, especially since we’re in school for 13 years. Schools should not have us here this long because students can get frustrated with school, have complications, and have stress.…
Students are overworking their brains and their bodies. “Longer school days could result in attention deficit and fatigue, making the extra class time ineffective.” By shortening the school days, students will have more time to focus on other things. Students will have more time to study for upcoming tests or quizzes, and would still have time to socialize. Students will have more time to sleep or rest which results in students staying…
