You were a creature, which grew all over my body, engulfing me like a tidal wave, before I could even grasp the chance to control you.
But, most of all, you were a monster, who seized me from all of those I loved so dearly; my friends, my family, my Tom; before I was ready to say goodbye to them, all because you wanted to say hello to me.
They say that your whole life passes right before your eyes when you reach the end; but for me, it was the exact opposite. Each heartbeat echoed throughout the cave of my corpse, each breath lifting my body closer to the heavens above; each moment lasting forever. But I didn’t mind whatsoever, especially coming up to that very last visit.
Mist in his eyes, the corners of those lovely lips wearily rose as Tom replicated that very same grin from our very first moments together, murmuring those very same words, “I love you.”
I just managed to whisper back, “I love you more.”
And for some reason, you freed me for my very last moment as I opened my eyes to meet his, and I took my last breath as we both uttered those words for the very last time; the best moment of them all.
