This indicates that, were the participants in the second tertile to consume the amount of dairy the third tertile is consuming, the incidences of diabetes development could be avoided, which is a very significant statistic. However, according to the results in the study itself, 50% of diabetes would be eliminated by the increase in dairy between the first tertile and third tertile. Both of these rates show that even moderate increases in consumption could have a significant increase on prevention.
