December 4, 2015 Helicobacter pylori Helicobacter pylori is a microbe that comes from the kingdom bacteria, under the domain of Eubacteria, where its phylum is the proteobacteria. While Helicobacteria pylori is in the wide phylum of Proteobacteria it is grouped under the order of Epsilonproteobacteria under its subset of Campylobacterales. When Helicobacter pylori go under the performance of a gram stain it comes out the product of what can be seen under the microscope as a gram negative. The shape of H. pylori is of a helical form that looks like a curved rod that contains circular ends. However, as the bacterium goes through time its cells do convert to cocci …show more content…
The reason Helicobacter pylori in my opinion is distinctive is due to how the microbe was presented in lecture with the story of how it was found. I thought it was very interesting that a scientist would go that far to prove a point even though he knew the implications of what would happen to him. There were some interesting facts also that went into the bacterium in that infects the people who contain the species as a reservoir and that is involved in nearly all of the duodenum ulcers. The reason why I find those facts so interesting is that I have a history with ulcers in that from time to time my upper abdomen would start to hurt and I would get nauseous along with very bloated, I always thought I had a bad stomach ache and would get over it but it didn’t which prompted my parents to take me to the doctor. Therefore due to my history with ulcers as well I thought it would be interesting to learn more about the bacterium that caused me pain and that is why I chose Helicobacter pylori as my favorite …show more content…
