We all have loved ones, people in our lives who we see as invincible. My invincible person was my uncle Efrain. This was a man who always welcomed me with open arms, who had a smile so big it lit up the whole room. This was the man who served as my hero, he had no faults, he walked with a confidence that nothing could stop him. I admired him, I still do to this day.

Within a mere hour I found myself rushing to the hospital with my parents; Never in my life had a hospital looked so ominous. We arrived at what felt like a never ending hallway, with each step I felt my legs begin to tremble more and more. After what seemed like an eternity, I finally reached the room. Upon opening the door, I saw the room was filled with family and friends, it was not a very large room, yet three things stuck out to me: a window, a devotional book, and a single smile amongst a sea of concerned faces. Before this I was simply an eleven-year-old boy who thought he knew what faith was, I believed I had something that was never there to begin with. Yet through my uncle’s death I saw what it meant to have real faith; I saw how having faith meant putting complete trust in God, even in the darkest of times.
