The terminology and innovations of the Ancient Greece period are still relevant to today’s law, politics and sports (Wright). One of the most important contribution was the Olympic Games, which began as a festival to honor the god of the sky, Zeus. It is now a huge international sporting event that is held every 4 years. Over 200 countries participate in the games where about 300 events are held and 28 sports are played.
Greek philosophers focused on the concept of life; in either a scientific way or mystical way. They were also interested in subjects like math and science. The first Greek philosopher was Socrates and is considered “the father of western philosophy” (Mark). He introduced the Socratic method, which is a form of argument between individuals where critical thinking skills are used and underlying presumptions are made. Plato, the student of Socrates, wrote a book called “The Republic” which is still a very popular philosophical book. The ideas of hundreds of Greek philosophers have made a huge impact on the study and ideas of science, astronomy, physics, medicine, and mathematics
