A classroom is a group of learners. Learners have at least two basic objectives:
• To complete learning tasks;
• To maintain positive and effective relationships among learners and teacher.
Leadership consists of actions that help the group to complete its tasks successfully and maintain effective working relationships among its members. For any group to be successful, both task-leadership actions and group maintenance-leadership actions have to be provided. Teachers will be provided with handheld devices to be able to plan for lessons and also share ideas with fellow colleagues. The devices will have access to email for communication by all staff, including the principal and parents as well. Dedicated web pages will be developed with information, videos and curriculum content and strategies of delivering lessons.
The use of technology will be time saving as the teacher will use a screen monitor to share work prepared with the students instead of writing it again on the chalk/white board. The teacher can share with the class as s/he writes on the handheld device and be able to save work for using at a later stage. The teacher may also choose to send the saved notes to the students after class.
Each school will have an application developed to provide additional resources, store assignments and projects for downloading. Work done can be saved on individualised folders for students. Parents will be able to access information on their children’s work through this application and hence take part in their children’s educations.
