I work in an office with four older men and two older women. Two of the older men have health issues which sometimes cause them to be absent from work or they arrive later in the day to pick up where they left off. Also, people in the factory have negative attitudes towards the department they are in, which will cause them to be absent from work or have poor performance. Poor performance leads to turnover. The employees with poor performance are terminated because the employer expects all employees to have high performance. Both of the ladies in my office sometimes have work/life balance issues. Either there is a family problem or there are other obligations outside of work that they need to attend to which causes them to be absent from work or arrive later in the day to do the work for that day. Step one is to ask myself “if I put forth the effort, will I reach the high performance I want?” This means I have to pay close attention to the measurements and numbers that I am entering in the program in order to get the correct measurements for the factory employees to cut. The second thing I must ask myself, “will my performance lead to the outcomes I want?” The outcome that I want is for the materials that the factory employees are using not to be wasted. If I enter the correct numbers then the materials will not be wasted and will used properly. The third thing to ask myself, “will my employer reward my performance?” As I have stated before, my employer does not do employee of the month; however, my employer lets all employees off early on a Friday if all the orders and other work are done before the end of the week. That is their way of rewarding employees for working hard during the week to meet the employers’ needs and
