The evidence of plate tectonics began as simply circumstantial evidence one example is continental drift which is the theory that all the continents used to be one giant continent that we now refer to as Pangea. Another idea that supports the theory of plate tectonics is seafloor spreading. Sea floor spreading is a process that happens in the middle of the ocean on ridges. New ocean crust is made by volcanoes and then slowly move away from the ridge. When the ocean plates move away from one another, new magma rises to the top and cools.
There are also a great number of fossils found on different continents and and nowhere else this suggests that the continents were once formed together. The remains of Mesosaurus freshwater crocodile is a prime example of this. The Mesosaurus lived between two-hundred and eighty six years ago and two-hundred and fifty-eight million years ago. It would have been …show more content…
The economic distress depends on the area and the ability it has to recover. A great deal of disasters greatly impact agriculture, many of the farmers in more poverty stricken areas have to completely start over. If farms are ruined it is much more difficult to find food in poorer areas. The impact tectonic disasters have on transportation is often overlooked. Transportation is all around us and we need it to get people proper medical care, get people to safety and much more but when roads are blocked or cars are ruined they cannot get to those people to save them. Many families lose their homes when disaster occurs which often leads to more poverty and
