Population Health is a new term being used in United States since 2003 and has been used in Canada for a while. There is no clear and concise definition of Population Health. There are five categories for determinants/factors that are used for Population Health: healthcare, individual behaviors, social environment, physical environment, and genetics. The patient can be seen more smoothly and lesson the time it takes to fill out the same old forms over and over. Now if patient goes to a clinic in Portland, but needs to go to emergency room in bend. With this electronic records, those doctors can get the pertinent information they need. Taking a way the paper forms and going to electronic records it will save the healthcare company money by not having to pay for the forms and staff hours to deal with it all. Once health IT catches up with rest of the services using information technology, it will give healthcare a much smoother and faster way to care for their
