Medicaid Program
Medicaid is a health insurance program sponsored by the government at state level and covers certain low-income individuals and families eligible by state and federal laws (Ireys, et al, 1997). The program does not deal with the individual directly but with the health care provider. To be a beneficiary of Medicaid one has to be pregnant, disabled, blind aged, and be a US citizen or a lawful immigrant. Medicaid pays for both inpatient and outpatient drug prescriptions.
Medicare Program
Medicare was passed by the congress in 1965 to cater for the elderly by providing a health insurance. It was later repealed in 1973 to include groups with disabilities and those with end stage renal diseases. …show more content…
