These resources range from office space to printers, computers, stationary, etc. All must be given a home. Sometimes they go back to a functional area, and many times they are retained for upcoming projects. The period they are retained without usage should be minimized, as there is a cost associated with the resource regardless of whether or not the resource is in use. One other activity that occurs during this action is to ensure that all contracts with suppliers are completed and closed.
Reassigning Project Team Members
The process of reassigning team members likely starts before the beginning of the Closure Phase. A good project manager will have a reputation of assisting the team members in finding a subsequent project or assignment that is a positive step for their career. In some companies, the team members are accountable for finding their own position within the company. In those companies, the project manager may continue to assist the team members in locating work, especially those team members who have performed exceptionally.
