“Big Data”, however, mainly focuses on the handling and analysis of extremely large amounts of data. As time passes, the size of data that organizations encounter grows significantly each year.
These data can range from transactions within a grocery store to tweets submitted on Twitter and many other sources. However, what remains the same is the fact that data are plentiful, and organizations must find ways to capture and use data in meaningful ways.

There may also be a bias in the data. However, given the massive amount of data that may be analyzed, the bias may be difficult to see or it may be too time consuming to address the issue. This would seem to be a major negative against Big Data, because without being able to determine if a bias is present, the discovery or decisions based on the data would be skewed. If a company has a significant amount of money relying on decisions and outcomes from the Big
Data discovery, this could be a major setback to the company.
Given the three above arguments, there are definitely some downsides to utilizing Big
Data as a technique to find new discoveries and to make decisions. The outcomes rely solely on the source of the data. Yet, if Big Data is properly implemented, it seems it could be a phenomenal system. Given the massive amount data that are being moved through the internet to organizations and via other means, it seems beneficial to organizations to capitalize on the available data. As data with such large volumes cannot be handled via traditional computer means, Big Data seems to be the only direction to go to capture and analyze the data.
