Machu Picchu is a historic sanctuary because an Incan civilization was built on that territory. There is 200 structures that make up this religious, ceremonial, astronomical and agricultural centre. This city is divided up into an upper part and a lower part. They were divided into the farming part and the civilization part. In 1911, an American explorer named Hiram Bingham discovered the Incan territory. Bingham also discovered a wall of stones that were made while making the city. Bingham said the stones looked like they weighed over 10 tons. Machu Picchu is so significant because of the architectural design. Bingham found this city as a gold mine to himself because of the design first off and the people and artifacts that haven’t been touched since the 1400s. Bingham was not the first white man to find the Inca civilization. It was taken over by the Spanish conqueror Francisco Pizarro in the 1530s. There are still mysteries that have been unsolved and are still unsolved today.
