This brings up the problem known as the Fermi Paradox. This basically states that if the likelihood of intelligent life existing is so high then how come we have yet to come in contact or find proof? This lack of contact is sometimes referred to as “The Great Silence.” Many have tried to come up with solutions to this paradox and some of them definitely seem plausible. One of the obvious ones is that the Drake Equation is completely wrong. However, one of the bigger theories out there is known as “The Great …show more content…
Basically it’s what the name implies: looking at the universe with the use of radio waves. We have the ability to determine what’s out there and where it is by using radio waves. It’s basically just a bigger radar system. We aim our satellite style dish out towards an area in the sky and shoot out radio waves. These waves will launch all the way out until they hit whatever our target is and then bounce off of it and back to the dish. (Lakdawalla) This way we can get the distance and shape of the object. Also, by changing the wavelength of the radio waves we can make it so that we only detect certain objects or materials. If we choose our desired objects or materials to things like water or certain atmosphere levels then we can find systems that are able to support life and get a better estimate of where life may
