Being a pediatrician has not just cured sick babies, it is keeping up with mental and physical health, but the reason there are pediatricians is to help reduce infant and child mortality rate, control infectious diseases, and to help ease the difficulties of children and adolescents with chronic conditions. By doing this, a pediatrician is expected to diagnose and treat infections, injuries, genetic defects, malignancies/ cancers, organic diseases and dysfunctions, developmental disorders, functional problems, social stresses and mental illnesses. When you’re a pediatrician parents are patients are depending on complete honesty, no matter how dangerous an infection or illness may be, for this you must be sympathetic and careful on your approach with the truth and be aware that you are going to be completely supportive of the family and patients in your care. There needs to be collaboration with the family, which is another quality next to support because you are trying to help cure and fight a disease, virus, chronic illnesses and so on, have the child know you will be with them through the entire path of fighting off illnesses, have them know that you’re going to help them build strengths for what the child is diagnosed with.
