Liberty University Abstract
The most unique categories of The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders would be the Trauma and Stressor-Related category. This category of disorders consists of Reactive Attachment Disorder, Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder, Posttraumatic-Stress Disorder, Acute Stress Disorder, Adjustment Disorders, Other Specified Trauma- and Stressor- Related Disorder, and Unspecified Trauma- and Stressor- Related Disorder. Treatments for Trauma and Stressor- Related Disorders are consistently changing as more information and understanding is discovered. Further research is necessary to continue to attempt to understand triggers and develop better treatment. A diagnosis within the Trauma and Stressor- Related category potentially can have a direct effect on the biblical and/or spiritual perspective held by an individual. References …show more content…

American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, 81(2), 265-276. http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/j.1939-0025.2011.01095.x Individuals who are insecure with their caregivers are more inclined to be vulnerable, become depressed and develop attachment disorders. A 6 month trial of 70 patients diagnosed with adjustment disorder and 61 patients with no known disorder showed those with AJD were also diagnosed with mixed anxiety depressive reactions. Findings also showed those with AJD had poor coping patterns, distanced themselves from family, friends and themselves. The study proved those with AJD are insecure, have low self-esteem and poor social support.
