When we are young, we really don't know what the best thing for our future is. But that's why we have parents to help lead us in the right path to a bright future. What better way can children have to go on the right path? Summer reading programs for children is a great place to start. Elementary students should be allowed to receive reading programs during the summer in order to increase their reading levels and receive a better future. Summer reading programs are important because it can increase a child's reading level as Barbara Heyn said, “ more than any public institution including the schools, the public library contributed to the intellectual growth of children during the summer” (Importance of Summer Reading). Not only does it increase levels, but it also avoids any learning loss. As the National Institute of Education agreed, reading outside of school really does give children the achievement of reading ( Importance of Summer Reading).
