Out of all the weapons in World War I probably the scariest weapons used would have to go to the gases. It was first started by the French with non lethal tear gas, soon it was each country want to outdo each other. Soon very deadly gas was introduced, such as chlorine gas and mustard gas. The best way to counteract the gases affects would be with a gas mask. But gas masks were not made too well and it was hard to do a thing while wearing one. If you didn't have a gas mask than you would have to pee on a rag and hold it up to your face. Invented by Hiram Maxim, and introduced to WW1 by the Germans. In WWI machine guns were more used for show and to strike fear into enemies. This is because the Machine gun had only been around for a couple years still had a lot of problems. For example it was to heavy to move so in case they need to advance they would have to leave it. It also jammed all the time because it was fed with a fabric chain. Most importantly after only two minutes of use it would overheat and you would have to pore water on it, and if you didn't have water you would have to pee on
