World War II presented many changes in the the normal lives of american citizen as well as the workplace for U.S. citizens on the homefront, especially for the women that were left behind. We had to work together we had to “minimize our use of Food, gas and clothing. We had to ration it. Many “Communities conducted scrap metal drives. To help build the armaments necessary to win the war “ Throughout World War II propaganda was used to gain new recruits and encourage the population to keep production of weapons, ammunition and supplies to assist the war efforts. As American men were drafted in great numbers beginning in October of 1940, government officials called on civilians to mobilize and maintain the home front and wartime production. Though the industrial jobs were filled there were still jobs that had to be done. Many women took on the farm work.

Hollywood made many films that would depict what they thought was really going on when we were at war. In reality all the films did was glamorize it in a way that didn’t seem realistic. Film makers like Capra’s series, Prelude to War “won acclaim... the films were often seen as objective and true to their nature when in fact they were very propagandous”. The documentary made many Japanese Americans feel so uncomfortable. The Japanese Americans had their “rights as citizens stripped from them”. Many of the posters that were put out made the Americans think that all Japanese people were evil or out to get them, because of the attack on Pearl
