The sequence of three lessons shown in this document is developed for year 7 Mathematics classes of a state school located in the outer suburb of Brisbane. These lessons are made of engaging teaching episodes and a formative assessment, to teach operations on fractions. A part of the material used is drawn from chapter 4 of the textbook (Greenwood et al., 2016). Remaining resources are hands-on activities, to make lessons engaging, sourced out from Internet.
The school, considered for developing this assignment, is a co-educational state school situated in a low socio-economic suburb from outer Brisbane. There are 26 students in the class with 16 boys and 10 girls. The school has limited resources and students are provided textbooks
