What is a contour line |
If the contour lines are close together, they hill is quite steep and high. If they are further apart the slope of hill is gentle. |

What is layer shading? |
The darker the shaded areas are the higher it is. |

Grid reference |
A grid helps the map reader to locate a place. The horizontal lines crossing the map from oboe side to the other are called northings. They are numbered- the numbers in creasing north. The the vertical lines that crossing the map from top to bottom these are called earthlings |
