What is jet reaction? |
Holding a hose with pressure or Jet reaction when the hose and branch recoil in a direction opposite to the flow When water projected from a branch causes a reaction equal and opposite to the force of the jet. |
Two principles of pressure? |
The height of the branch/nozzle above the pump Friction in the hose |
1m of height equals? |
10kpa |
To calculate the pressure the formula is? |
P=10xH Pressure= 10kpa multiply by head in metres |
1 Bar equals? |
100kpa |
To calculate head the formula is? |
H=P/10, head is height and P is pressure |
Loss of pressure due to friction loss also know as DRISL? |
D- diameter of hose - friction loss increases directly with the decrease in diameter R- Roughness of hose - friction loss increases with the roughness of the interior of the hose I- independent pressure - friction loss is independent of pressure when running at a constant flow rate S- Square of the flow rate - double the flow then you quadruple the friction loss - friction loss increases directly as the square of the flow rate L- length of the hose - friction loss increases directly with the length of the hose - the longer the hose the more pressure is required to pump water through the hose |
