What does the Panama Canal connect?

France started building, but they stopped because it was expensive, they were in the middle of a war, and they were getting attacked by native tribes and a big reason was because so many people had died from mosquitos carrying yellow fever and malaria.

From 1914-1979, then in 1979, when Jimmy Carter was president, we jointly controlled it. Then finally Panama got full control in 1999

|
Panama had to rebel against Colombia (who ruled them in 1904) to get the canal because they did not agree with it. We gave them supplies for war.
