Warning Horn (Intermittent) or Warning Light - Cabin Altitude or Takeoff Configuration
If an intermittent warning horn sounds or a CABIN ALTITUDE warning light (if installed and operative) illuminates in flight at an aircraft altitude above 10,000 feet MSL:
Oxygen Masks And Regulators...ON / 100% Crew Communications...Establish Accomplish The Cabin Altitude Warning / Abnormal Pressurization Immediate Action Items And Checklist (Page A-15). (STOP) If the intermittent warning horn sounds or a TAKEOFF CONFIG warning light (if installed and operative) illuminates on the ground: Assure Correct Aircraft Takeoff Configuration. (STOP) |

Aborted Engine Start
(Reasons to Abort) |
Start Lever… Cutoff
If the engine start switch is in GRD: After motoring the engine for 60 seconds: Start Switch… OFF If the engine start switch is in OFF: After N2 decreases below 20%: Start Switch… GRD After motoring the engine for 60 seconds: Start Switch… OFF |
Abort the engine start if any of the following conditions occur:
• No N1 before the start lever is raised to IDLE.
• No increase in EGT within 10 seconds (ground) or 30 seconds (in flight) after the start lever raised to IDLE . (On the ground, the EEC automatically cuts off fuel and ignition 15 seconds after the start lever is raised to IDLE if there is no EGT increase). • EGT rapidly approaching the start limit (the white box surrounding the EGT digital readout flashes). • EGT exceeding 725* start limit (EGT dial and digital readout turn red. On the ground, the EEC automatically cuts off fuel and ignition to the engine). • Engine tailpipe fire • No/very slow increase in N1 or N2 , after EGT indication. • No oil pressure indication by the time the engine has stabilized at idle. • When directed for any other condition. |
Engine Limit / Surge / Stall
1. (NG) Autothrottle (if engaged)…Disengage
2. Thrust Lever… Retard to Maintain Limits |
Dual Engine Failure
1. Start Switches…FLT
2. Start Levers…CUTOFF EGT Decreasing: 3. Start Levers…IDLE If EGT reaches 930*C (CL) or 950*C (NG) or there is no increase in EGT in 30 seconds: Repeat the above steps as necessary |
Engine Overheat
1. (NG) Autothrottle (if engaged)…Disengage
2. Thrust Lever…Close Then: If OVERHEAT light remains illuminated: Accomplish the Engine Fire / Severe Damage / Separation / Seizure Immediate Action Items and Checklist, Page G-13 (CL) G-11 (NG)." |
APU Fire
1. APU Fir Warning Switch…Pull, Rotate, and Hold 1 Second.
2. APU Switch…OFF |
Airspeed Unreliable
1. Airspeed Attitude / Thrust…Adjust
2. Probe Heat…Confirm ON 3. Mach/Airspeed Indicators…Crosscheck |
Engine Fire/Severe Damage/Separation/Seizure
1. (NG) Autothrottle (if engaged)…Disengage
2. Thrust Lever…Close 3. Start Lever…CUTOFF 4. Engine Fire Warning Switch…Pull If the fire warning light or OVERHEAT light remains illuminated: Engine Fire Warning Switch…Rotate L or R and Hold 1 Sec If after 30 seconds, the fire warning light or OVERHEAT light remains illuminated: Engine Fire Warning Switch…Rotate to remaining bottle and Hold 1 Sec |
Smoke/Fire/Fumes on the Aircraft
Lavatory Smoke/Fire |
1. Oxygen Masks and Regulators…ON/100%
2. Smoke Goggles (if required)…ON |
Runaway Stabilizer
1. Control Column…Hold Firmly
2. Autopilot (if engaged)…Disengage If runaway stabilizer continues: 3. Stabilizer Trim Cutout Switches…CUTOUT If runaway stabilizer continues: 4. Stabilizer Trim Wheel…Grasp and Hold |
Uncommanded Roll (Spindle Failure)
1. Autopilot (if engaged)…Disengage
2. Maintain Control of the Aircraft With All Available Flight Controls. If Roll Is Uncontrollable, Immediately Reduce Pitch / AOA and Increase Airspeed. Do Not Attempt to Maintain Altitude Until Control Is Recovered. 3. Thrust…Verify Symmetrical 4. Go-Around…Initiate |

Reject Takeoff (No Longer a Memory Item)
Captain |
QRH P-9
Simultaneously perform the following: • Close the thrust levers. • Disengage the autothrottles. • Apply maximum manual wheel brakes or verify operation of the RTO autobrake system. • If RTO autobrake is selected, monitor system performance and apply manual wheel brakes if the AUTO BRAKE DISARM light illuminates or deceleration is not adequate. Without delay: • Raise the speedbrake lever. • Apply reverse thrust up to the maximum amount consistent with conditions. • Continue maximum braking until certain the airplane will stop on the runway. |
Reject Takeoff (No Longer a Memory Item)
First Officer |
QRH P-9
[Note Groundspeed] Verify action as follows: • Thrust levers closed. • Autothrottles disengaged. • Maximum brakes applied. • Speedbrake lever is up, and call “Extended.” If speedbrake lever is not up, call “No Speedbrake.” When both green REV lights are illuminated, call “Deployed.” If a green REV light is not illuminated, call “No Reverse.” Note: The “No Reverse” call only applies to the operating engine. Note: The “No Reverse” call does not apply to thrust reversers deferred by Maintenance. If the AUTO BRAKE DISARM light illuminates: • Call “Autobrake Disarm.” • Call out any omitted action items. • Call “60 knots.” • Communicate the reject decision to the control tower. • Note the speed, call for response if required, remind the CA not to set the parking brake if not evacuating, accomplish the QRH checklist items for the abort, refer to P-9 afterwards. |
