In the span of the next several weeks I learned more about myself than I had throughout my whole life. I went to bed that night without speaking with anyone. All I could think about was, “how could this happen, just last year I was MVP and captain of the junior varsity team”. Soccer has been my passion for as long as I can remember. It's in my blood, my dad came to America from Ireland to play soccer ,and I inherited his love for the game. This made it humiliating to be on the bench, because I felt as if I let him down. The next morning I was plagued with thoughts of what the future would hold, but I knew what I had to do.
