Some of the more common materials the Romans used included marble, stone, Roman brick, white limestone, and Roman concrete. The two most common materials were stone and marble, because the materials were easy to get and looked beautiful.
Marble was a material that was not located near Rome, therefore making the Romans want to use stone instead of marble. The Romans found good use for stone though by using it in some of the best structures that man kind has ever seen, like the Roman Colosseum.
