Identify the relevant ethical guidelines and principles that will help you make your decision
As I look at the ethical standards of human services, I came across a few standards that fit this case. The standards are as follows:
“Statement 2 Human service professionals respect the integrity and welfare of the client at all times. Each client is treated with respect, acceptance and dignity.” (NOHS) Tonya’s welfare is what’s important. Being with someone who doesn’t have a criminal record is safer.
“Statement 4 If it is suspected that danger or harm may occur to the client or to others as a result of a client 's behavior, the human service professional acts in an appropriate and professional manner to protect the safety of those individuals. Identify all the possible course of actions and enumerate the possible consequences of each
The possible actions that can be enumerated are having the father and the foster mother to come to a legal agreement to let the father visit the child while still under the care of Beverly. The consequence of this is that Beverly won’t be able to adopt Tonya and the Terence won’t have complete custody.
Another option is to have the father to relinquish his parental rights and let Beverly adopt Tonya. He would only be able to visit Tonya here and there. The consequence of this action is that he’ll lose his rights and Tonya may not have a relationship with him. When taken to court Beverly may lose and Terence would have custody of Tonya.
VII. Describe what you have determined to be the best course of action and your reasoning behind that decision
As I looked and researched case 1.4 of Tonya I have come to the solution that Tonya need to be adopted by Beverly. I say this because she needs stability. Terence would have to get out of prison try to find a job and home for him and Tonya. Each of those things he lack and usually when a prisoner is release from jail thy end up back in jail. Tonya shouldn’t have to be put in something that’s not secure and
