The disaster recovery is a process of strategic community planning, similar to that which takes place in communities throughout the country every day, except that it entails the enormous challenges of time compression: a process that would normally occur over decades must be carried out within a relatively short period of time (Olshansky, 2014). When dealing with natural disasters, Mobilizing for Action through Planning & Partnerships (MAPP) can be used to determine the health status and community perceptions of health needs. MAPP increases the perceptibility of our community public health by developing a process that will increase the awareness of public health issues while creating a greater system as a whole.
