Before Kino found the pearl, Kino and Juana were happy with everyday life. After they found the pearl, they lost their happiness. Kino became worried about the pearl more than anything, even to himself that he did not even spend time with his family. He started to have trust issues. Their house was burned down by the unknown people that had been stalking on them. Their canoe was destroyed which they do not know who did it but it was destroyed after they found the pearl. The canoe was the only thing that was given from generation to generation. He even lost the worth of the pearl because they threw it back in the ocean. Since, they threw away the pearl, they would never be able to sell the pearl.
Overall, Kino and Juana did not gain anything because of the pearl but they lost their dreams of joyfulness, protection, and richness as well as their baby in this case which would be the most valuable thing they could lose. Their lives were in such horrible tragedies, because of what the pearl brought to them, that they would never be happy again. Their lives could not get any worse than what had happened to them because the pearl was the only hope they had in life. Then it was the only reason why the family got tear apart and
