I was offered a spot on the team. However, I had to decline the offer. The practices fell on a day that I already committed to my sorority for the next year. I refused to let others down based on my desire to be apart of dance team. Fighting tears, I thanked the coaches and athletic department staff for the opportunity, but I respectfully declined because when I commit, I never back out.
That decision came so easily to me despite all the hard work I poured into tryouts for the team one last time. However, when I made my sorority sisters my priority; they kept my dream of being on dance team a priority of theirs. With their help and the help of my advisor and others, the commitment that prevented my ability to at practices for dance team was re-arranged. After speaking with the coach, she invited me to an invitation only fall tryout. I accepted the invitation two days before the tryout because it took two months of meetings and pleading to re-arrange my commitment. I made the team and became captain because of my dedication to my team.
Accomplishing goals requires hard work and focus. My hard work took three years, and I learned about my perseverance and dedication that gives me the knowledge that I can accomplish law school. I can handle the physical, mental, and emotional turmoil that law school and a career in law brings. I will not only handle it, but I will
