According to the chart from the book of The Generall Historie of Virginia, New England, and the Summer Isles, Book III by Captain John Smith, 1624 it shows that in May 1607 there were 110 male settlers and only 68 men were workers(Doc C). This shows the lack of workers which were needed. So instead of 110 there were 68 workers which his a big problem. If there were exactly 110 workers a lot more work would be done. The other 42 people were gentlemen which all they did was just collect gold and they were filled with riches instead of working for survival. In total there were 230 men who went on to find gold and a settlement, but there weren’t any women who were sure needed to be apothecaries, cooks, aswell a surgeon's. With women these men would’ve had a better chance for survival.
The Final cause of death in the colony is and poor relations with the Powhatan tribe. Though West was able to load his [small ship] with grain, the success involved “some harshe and [cruel] dealinge by cutting of towe [two] of the
Salvages heads and other extremetyes”(Doc D). This evidence shows an example of the harshness between the Powhatan tribe with the settlers and their poor relationship. In the year of 1610 100 men at Nansemond, indians kill 50 in powhatan siege of Jamestown(Doc E). As well as (Doc D) has information (Doc E)also has information which shows the currency in that time(1607-1610) of the killings coming from their
