During my high school career, I enrolled in a dual credit program where I took college courses at the College of Southern Nevada and at Great Basin College. I graduated with over 56 credits and have a sophomore status at UNLV. I plan to graduate in the spring of 2017 with my Bachelor’s degree. Although, I struggle with my courses at times and don’t have a 4.0 grade point average; school has always been a priority for me. Growing up a Latina I feel very connected to my Spanish roots. Both my parents are from Nicaragua and they have raised me to me proud of my ancestry. I am extremely proud of my roots and I dearly love the country that birthed my parents. However, I would love to expand my awareness and learn about the culture of others. I have always been fascinated my people’s culture, tradition, history, art, music, architecture, etc... I don’t want to limit myself with just my academics. I would like my college experience to be about learning new things and simply finding myself through new adventures. I want to discover new things and new people and find a deeper meaning in traveling. UNLV is a school that is known for its diversity. As a student here I admit that I have always felt welcomed but I have yet to find my place. I’ve effortlessly tried new things around campus hoping to find where I belong.
