1.0 Introduction to the topic
1.1 Definition of the topic
Oil and gas is an important raw material in this era. We are consuming and using hundreds of things that made up from this raw material in our daily life. The oil and gas industry is normally divided into 3 main sectors. There are upstream, midstream and downstream sectors. The upstream sector in charged of exploration and production processes, midstream sector responsible for transportation and refining/processing processes while downstream sector involving in distribution and retail sale processes. This industry involved of many processes in turn thousands of people work in the industry.

While utilizing science to drive innovation, DuPont emphasized Safety (make the world different in the safety of people with trusted Personal Protection products and Safety, Risk Management tools), Environment (formulate cleaner fuel, improve water usage and quality, reduce air emissions and develop strategic environmental plans), Reliability and Productivity (keep working operation at peak efficiency). The first trial which was closing the blowout preventer valves with underwater vehicles but it failed. Then, the second method which was doming over the largest leak part with containment and third method which restrict the flow of oil by pumping drilling fluid also failed. After that, BP succeed to restrict the flow of oil by putting a “Top Hat Number 10” which fitted better at the wellhead and then sealed part of flow channel permanently by pumping cement from the top and the well has been declared “dead effectively” and no further threat will be posed to Gulf on 19 September 2010. Then, the company had agreed to assign two safety monitor to improve safety.
After that, scale and spread of operation which means be prepared to overcome to a some potential threats such as accidents, health alerts and weather extreme have been practiced by BP. They tried to predict them and ensure they are be prepared if an accident or crisis occurs all of a sudden. Besides, BP also started to cooperate with government and other agencies help in crisis to keep their workforce and the community safe and to minimize impacts to the environment. BP also conduct crisis response practices to test their readiness both regional and local
