Reflecting back to my friends in high school, I never understood how people could be so cruel to others for being different, making fun others for being different. Thus, I was always a bit of a rebel and liked things that were different or not understood. However, I had many friends and was never the target of bullying. For example, during the 80’s when I was in high school, the punk scene was big in Chicago but had not spilled over into the suburbs. Again, I held many leadership roles within intending to, they just naturally landed in my lap, and at the time I attributed it to no one else wanting to do it.
