Our club grew because I organized an awareness stand in the cafeteria with the help of existing members where we passed out flyers which invited anyone to join. It grew because we went to classrooms, describing the club’s values and what it provided. We personally talked to students about themselves and how to make Art Club better. The best feedback I heard came from a mother whose daughter came home and told her how happy she was that could finally join Art Club. In previous years, she was left out because she could not participate in the competition. Due to initiative and leadership, the tiny group grew into a large, versatile club, dedicated to art and the community. Additionally, at every meeting I ask for participants for volunteering projects, such as face painting at a benefit, or cleaning the yards of local homes. Anyone willing can volunteer. Everyone has the option to be a part of a project. This creates an outlet for members to give back to the community, and also makes members feel included and supportive in the club. Overall, the current Lincoln Art Club fulfilled my goal of inclusiveness because of my personal approach and involving all of the members through volunteer
