The experimenter was blind to the fact if the supervisor was going to treat them harshly or not and the supervisor did not know if the subject was treated harshly or kindly during the experiment. Afterwards, the subject was able to give an opinion on the supervisor through a questionnaire. The Independent Variable in this study was the pleasant or harsh punishment that the supervisor shows the experimenter and the pleasant or harsh punishment that the experimenter shows the subject. Also, the fact that there is an even number of female and male participants is an Independent Variable. The Dependent Variable in this study was the number of phone calls and the survey at the end rating the experimenter by the subject. At the end of the study, the hypothesis was proved correct. It showed true that a person is more likely to like their friends friend better then he would his friend’s enemy, and more likely to like someone who has the same enemy as them.
I believe that there are many strengths to this article and the way that the study was conducted. I think that one big strength in this study was the way that they blinded the subject, experimenter, and the supervisor helping to keep the study unbiased. By blinding all of the participants in the study, and not just the subject, it helps to get the most accurate results at the end of the
