“Let’s go HAPA, let’s go! Let’s go HAPA, let’s go! Whoo! Go HA...Beep,” a loud screech rang through me ears. I looked everywhere, from my right to my left, turning and shaking my head in confusion. “Where am I?” I thought. Suddenly, my brain processed my surroundings, and my eyes focused on the view ahead of me. As soon as my head was in the right mind, I saw Fantasia in front of me, Hilary besides me, the huge fish net looking net set up high held, with two poles, in front of me, and my coaches along with the other teammates were waiting on the sidelines. “You can do it!” someone hollered instantaneously from the benches. Once I heard the scream, I turned my head quickly to face the screamer with the a voice that echoed throughout the room. …show more content…
Thud! Bam!” the sound of volleyballs being spiked onto the ground. It grew louder and louder as I got closer and closer to the gym. It was mid winter, and the championship game was approaching us. Everyday, my team and I practiced our skills, preparing us for the game. Unfortunately, the game was on the following Friday which resulted in a rush for us to practice as much as possible in order to defeat the other team. On the Thursday before the championship game, I went to practice with a thumping heart, beating really fast in anticipation of tomorrow. With a purple bag filled with my gym clothes, I entered through the gym doors. As soon as I entered into the gym, the net was already set up for practice with the rest of the team stretching and warming up. I quickly ran over to the locker room hoping that other girls were in there as well. Once I reached the door, the creaking and the squeaking of the door welcomed as well as a gloomy short hallway. However, chatters and noises were heard throughout the room as I see other girls still getting dressed for practice. I rushed to find a locker and began to dress comfortably for practice; I chose a blue short sleeved t shirt with a short with white strips on the sides and leggings under paired with blue tennis shoes. I was ready to practice, and determined to try my best even if I sweat to …show more content…
However, things got worse as we got closer to the location. I felt even more nervous that I can not control my fast thumping heart. As we got out of the bus, a cold breeze blew past my face making me shiver in coldness and trying to find some warmth. We quickly entered into the building which welcomes us with a warm air thawing out the coldness in our stiff fingers. Then we went to the gym which was really huge, and wide. In a single file line, we were lead to the bleaches where some of our family was waiting. Some of us went to use the bathroom while the others were stretching ahead of time. When the rest of the girls came back, we were ordered to run around the court to relax our legs. Once everyone has ran, we all came together to stretch again. With the coaches’ help, we practiced our digging skill with the coaches spiking the ball towards us, for us to dig the ball and return it to the coach. Next, we went over serving which was really easy. The hardest one was the spiking part where we had to spike the ball over the net while the setter sets us the ball. It was difficult since some of us had height

Tires crunched on the loose gravel parking lot as I was dropped off at my high school’s tennis courts on the first day of school. With my high school requiring a year of physical education, I opted to take the lifetime sport for I was nervous to compete for a spot on the highly competitive teams my school was known for. The district ranked player’s father, Mr. Weaver, was a sophomore chemistry teacher who happened to play tennis professionally in his heyday. Mr. Weaver volunteered to teach the freshman tennis team and to train them the basics before they were transferred to “the real…
